At Home With Allen’s™ Save Our Zoo Fund What's Happening: With budgets in crisis at the state and local levels, Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo's funding is in jeopardy. Beardsley Zoo relies on both the State of Connecticut and the City of Bridgeport for nearly one third of their funding.
If either one cuts the zoo's funding, their ability to keep the doors open will be in danger.
At Home with Allen's has begun coordinating a coalition of businesses to help raise funds to Save Our Zoo. Collection buckets are being placed at public locations throughout the State for donations. "Save Our Zoo" T-shirts are being produced, with all proceeds benefitting the Beardsley Zoo. Donate Online on the Zoo's website. Current Locations:
Allen's Plumbing Supply 145 Bank St. Rt 67 Seymour, CT Phone: (203)888-5105
Carpenos Chiropractic Center 666 Campbell Ave. West Haven, CT Phone Number: (203)934-6066 Why the Beardsley Zoo: Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo is Connecticut's ONLY Zoo! It also has one of the last operational carousels in the Northeast. It's an educational, informative and fun family time, located in historic Beardsley Park in Bridgeport. It is a great place for children to learn about nature, and an affordable day of activities for any family. Historically, the grounds are where Bridgeport's most famous resident, P.T. Barnum would exercise his circus animals.
Beyond that, the value of the work the Zoo does in conserving many of the world's endangered species through its membership in breeding programs is incalculable. From the breeding of Timber Wolves, Mexican Wolves and the Siberian Tiger down to Poison Dart Frogs, the Zoo protects and defends ecosystems throughout the world.
The possibilities are limitless, but the consequences of inaction are dire. Please join us TODAY!
